The Tennessee Department of Treasury is responsible for the administration of the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS) and the State 401(k)/457(b) deferred compensation plans for over 350,000 active and retired public employees. We take great pride in offering comprehensive financial education and retirement counseling to all Tennessee teachers, state, higher education, and local government members through RetireReadyTN.
We have become aware of third-party organizations approaching members to offer retirement planning services. This is a service that is already offered at no charge to all members of the retirement plan. Members of RetireReadyTN, including TCRS and the State 401(k)/457(b) plans, can meet a RetireReadyTN Plan Advisor for assistance with retirement planning, counseling, or to discuss any other financial planning needs.
RetireReadyTN Plan Advisors are employees of our contractor, Empower Retirement, and are the only representatives authorized by the Tennessee Department of Treasury with the ability to review member-specific account information. Additionally, RetireReadyTN Plan Advisors are required to work in the best interest of each member, do not sell other financial products, and do not receive commissions for any action taken as a result of a meeting.
Members can contact our dedicated RetireReadyTN Call Center with any questions regarding TCRS and the deferred compensation (401(k)/457) program. In addition, they may schedule an appointment to meet with any of our 15 local RetireReadyTN Plan Advisors. These representatives conduct group meetings, individual retirement counseling sessions for those within three years of retirement, and individual retirement readiness reviews for all members at any point in their career. These services are provided to our members at no additional fee. In order to practice social distancing, these meetings are currently being conducted via conference call or WebEx.
To schedule a meeting with a RetireReadyTN Plan Advisor or ask questions about your retirement plans, call the dedicated RetireReadyTN Call Center at (800) 922-7772 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central Time.
In this period of great uncertainty we encourage you to protect yourself against companies who may be looking to profit for their services. For more information about retirement planning and counseling, to access your retirement accounts, or to schedule a meeting with a RetireReadyTN Plan Advisor visit RetireReadyTN.gov or call (800) 922-7772.
