Multilingual Learners

The state of Tennessee defines an English Learner as a student with a non-English background who qualifies for English language support services. Lenoir City School District is about 18% Multilingual Learners with 32% at Lenoir City Elementary School, 25% at Lenoir City Intermediate Middle School, 9% at Lenoir City High School and 2% in iLearn. We are honored with the opportunity to serve such a diverse community of learners and their families.  Each of our schools has a team of English Language Development teachers working with grade level and content teachers to support students in a variety of ways. Mission

At Lenoir City Schools, our English Language Development programming is in place to support the diverse needs of our non – native English speaking students.  Our goal is to have them prepared their choice of college and career in an English speaking country when they graduate high school. We use a variety of intervention plans to meet the needs of students from Kindergarten to 12th grade.
